The Grapes Public House was built in 1720 on the site of a previous pub in Narrow Street E14. The pub was imortalised in Charles Dickens’ book ‘Our Mutual Friend’ where it featured under the name of ‘The Six Jolly Fellowship Porters Pub’. Dickens had been aquainted with the pub due to being made, as a child, to stand on a table and sing to customers.

This building has survived endless historic events including ‘The Blitz’ and we can proudly say that the building is still standing unharmed after our Christmas visit. Our newly commissioned vehicle featuring a Fassi ’27TM’ lorry mounted crane assisted in the removal and reinstallation of the complete kitchen facilities via a front window of the property.

So ladies & gentlemen, we wish you a Happy New Year and are pleased to confirm that our fleet including our New Commission is available for hire and that The Grapes is still serving food !!!
